This mom of four lost 5 pounds in 6 weeks without tracking calories or eating sad, boring food. Here’s how she did it.

Being a mom can be… stressful. And hard. But overall, a million times worth it! All that said, adding kids into the equation can make being healthy and achieving a weight loss goal a little more challenging.
That’s why today I wanted to share an amazing story from community member, Sarah. As a mom of four little ones she was able to balance her day-to-day life while eating meals she really likes and losing 5 pounds… all without counting calories! Not to mention how much more energy she’s gained in the process.
“I used to be so tired in the afternoon. Often reaching for candy and a nap to get me through till bedtime. Now I have so much more energy throughout the day that is consistent and I feel like I can be much more present for my children and family.”
Say hello to Sarah!

What was your wellness goal?
Finally not giving my body to another human and ready to spend some time and me. Have been so busy for the last nine years that health and wellness on food has felt overwhelming. Finally feel like I have to time to do it.

What were your wellness wins?
I lost five pounds. The most amazing thing though is the amount of energy I have gained. I used to be so tired in the afternoon. Often reaching for candy and a nap to get me through till bedtime. Now I have so much more energy throughout the day that is consistent and I feel like I can be much more present for my children and family.
The meals that I am eating are so much more satisfying and tastier. Most of the meals that I was making before were following a macro diet; low fat and limited protein. It is amazing how adding in fat and more protein improves the taste and satiation of my meals. And now I am not afraid of whole milk or any full fat dairy or butter. It is amazing!
I have learned so much about fiber. Adding in fiber has really curved my sugar cravings. I have had several Valentine events in the evening recently and because I had a really good dinner complete with protein, fat, and fiber I was full and didn’t want to eat the high sugar and carbohydrate foods they had.
I am also so much more regular and less bloated which just contributes to my mood! I feel really confident in each meal that I eat and confident in building my own meals as well knowing what important things to include.

What were some of your favorite meals?
Cauliflower nachos, Jammy cottage cheese toast, scrambled eggs, strawberry macadamia “granola”, mango summer slaw, simple sesame dressing, apple beet slaw, broccoli slaw salad, ginger house salad, asparagus fires.
Did you have any struggles? If so, how did you overcome them?
Quitting sugar at the beginning was hard. Having a milk and protein drink after dinner or whenever I had a sugar craving was very helpful. I only did that for about the first week and a half. Now I don’t have that craving after dinner. Also it was just hard to take all of the information in but all of the free videos on FB were very helpful and all of the information in the program.
Have you tried anything else in the past?
I have done weight watchers in the past but I was living with my mom and she basically made all of the food for me so it was way easier. I tired weight watchers on my own and I couldn’t do it. It was too stressful to measure everything.
What do you wish you could tell yourself at the beginning of your journey?
That the food is going to taste so much better than what you have been eating and it will all make sense once you get started.
