Homemade Healthy Popcorn

This better-for-you popcorn uses parmesan, butter and freshly popped popcorn for a healthy treat.

Ingredients
 

  • 1/4 cup salted butter
  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan

Instructions

  • In a large pot over medium heat, add the butter and popcorn kernels. Cover and allow the kernels to cook, shaking the pan every 30 seconds or so to prevent sticking. You’ll start to hear a lot of popping kernels in a few minutes. 
  • Once you hear the popcorn kernels popping less often (only about one pop per couple of seconds), remove the popcorn from the heat.
  • Uncover and pour into a large bowl. Top with finely shredded parmesan and a pinch of salt.

Notes

Although I'm not a fan of "snacking" on popcorn between meals because it's not very satiating, it can be a healthier "treat" item. We love making Trev's famous popcorn for movie nights!
