Spooky & Sweet Halloween "Charcuterie" Board | Healthy Halloween Food Ideas!

It’s spooky season! 👻

There’s something about this holiday that gets me more excited than the rest. And although there are plenty of fun Halloween themed goodies during this time of year, much of it revolves around candy (obviously).

But you don’t need to have an “all or nothing“ approach when it comes to having a themed fun time on the creepiest of days. Instead, try bringing my healthier party board as a crowd pleasing alternative to your Halloween party.

This Halloween board has some high protein ingredients mixed with healthier alternatives to traditional snack and treat foods. Plus, it’s super cute! Checkout the individual ingredients and the recipes below.

The Devil's Eggs

Ingredients:

  • 3 eggs

  • 1/2 avocado

  • 1 teaspoon wasabi powder

  • salt

  • candy eyes

  1. Hard boil the eggs. Cool and peel off the shell. Cut each egg in half and put the cooked yolk in a bowl.

  2. Add the avocado, wasabi powder and a pinch of salt to the yolk in the bowl. Mash to combine.

  3. Fill each egg with the yolk mixture. Top with a candy eye.

Note: You can find wasabi powder in the spice section of the grocery store or by the canned coconut milk. You can also find it online. If you like your Devil’s Eggs with even more of a kick, feel free to add more wasabi powder.

Trevor's Famous Popcorn

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup salted butter

  • 2 tbsp. olive oil

  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels

  • 1/2 cup shredded parmesan

  • salt

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, add the butter, olive oil and popcorn kernels. Cover and allow the kernels to cook, shaking the pan every 30 seconds or so to prevent sticking. You’ll start to hear a lot of popping kernels in a few minutes.

  2. Once you hear the popcorn kernels popping less often (only about one pop per couple of seconds), remove the popcorn from the heat.

  3. Uncover and pour into a large bowl. Top with finely shredded parmesan and a pinch of salt.

Note: Although I'm not a fan of "snacking" on popcorn between meals because it's not very satiating, it can be a healthier "treat" item. We love making Trev's famous popcorn for movie nights so it was a must when I created this Healthy Halloween Board!

Honey Baked Brie

Ingredients:

  • 1 wheel or large slice of brie cheese

  • Honey

  • 1-2 crunchy apples

  • 1 cup strawberries

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Place the brie cheese on the baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes. The thicker the cheese, the longer it will take to melt.

  3. Remove from the oven and drizzle with honey.

  4. Serve with sliced strawberries and sliced apples for dipping.
