A few weeks ago, one of the community members Carolyn sent us a truly incredible email.
She told us how her life has changed in just a few months. Carolyn was a diabetic for 12 years and was told by her doctor that she would never be able to get off her medications.
But after making simple, satiating and sustainable changes to her diet, she was able to bring her A1c down to 5.4 and was told to get off all of her insulin medications!

Tell us about yourself!
I am retired. My husband and I live in Vermont. We have 3 grown children and 9 grandchildren. My husband retired from IBM in 2008. We're in our 70's.
What was your main wellness goal?
I wanted to go off Insulin. I was a diabetic for 12 years. I come from a family of diabetics, my mom, my brother, my grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins. I worked hard to keep my numbers low and to try to reverse it in my life.
Which Intermittent Fasting Program did you follow?
I am following the Intermittent Fasting of 16/8.
Did you have any hesitations before starting your journey?
No. But I did my research after I found Autumn on YouTube. I watched as many of her videos as I could in that first week. I bought the products she recommended, and I wrote down the recipes she shared.
What has been your biggest wellness win with the Intermittent Fasting Program?
Going off of insulin. Having my endocrinologist tell me that my A1C was 5.4 which means that after 12 years of being a diabetic, I'm not even a pre-diabetic now. When I saw him the year before in 2023 my A1C was 6.3. I asked him then what did I have to do in order to come off the insulin (I was taking 4 shots per day) and he told me that I was never going to be able to stop the insulin. I was always going to be a diabetic. He was very surprised when I saw him recently that I changed my numbers, and he no longer considers me a diabetic. He took me off the insulin.
What was your favorite recipe from the Program?
I love the pancakes. And the smoothies were a life changer for me because of the taste and the amount of protein I get from them.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
It was so much easier than anything else I've tried. I have only lost 8 pounds, and I have 75-100 pounds to lose still, but I will be able to continue on it because the food is so delicious and easy to make.
