Here at Autumn Elle Nutrition, we're big fans of smoothies.

With a smoothie, it's super easy to pack in the protein, fat and fiber needed to support a fat loss and wellness goal in one convenient and portable meal.

And the wide variety of flavors you can create with a protein smoothie never stop. (Which is why we also have our Official Smoothie Cookbook with over 80 protein smoothie recipes!)

Today, we're sharing a brand new and DELISH recipe developed by AEN Team member, Katy, called the Caramel Apple Protein Smoothie. Enjoy!

Key Ingredients:

Autumn's Vanilla Protein Powder

Our zero added sugar protein powder is loaded with 20 grams of complete protein per serving. This recipe calls for 3 scoops to make sure we hit 30 grams of protein to boost satiety and prevent hunger.

I specifically developed Autumn's Protein Powder (in my kitchen!) to compliment recipes rather than overpower them. We also use monk fruit extract (a natural zero sugar sweetener) in our protein powder to add a hint of sweetness.

Pecans

Pecans provide a natural "maple" flavor as well as a whole food source of fat to help stabilize blood sugar levels and prevent snacking.

Apple

Although apple contains a little bit more sugar than some other fruits, it's still considered low glycemic load. This means it won't cause a big blood sugar spike in most people. Plus, in this recipe it's paired with protein, fat and fiber to help slow the release of those natural sugars even further.

Flaxseeds

These little powerhouses provide a few grams of fiber per tablespoon and a significant amount of a plant-based omega-3 fatty acid called ALA. Omega-3 fats are known as the anti-inflammatory fats.

Maca Powder

This is an optional ingredient, but provides a flavor enhancement plus some additional wellness perks. Maca powder is made from a Peruvian root that's been dried and blended into a powder.

The flavor of maca is slightly reminiscent of caramel when added to smoothies. In terms of its health benefits, maca powder has been studied to boost libido, improve some symptoms of menopause and even improve energy levels. (1,2,3)
