Expert Advice on How To End Your Detox

Updated: May 27, 2020

Today is day 5 of the 7 Day Intermittent Fasting Detox and there have been so many amazing checkins of #AENpeeps feeling more energized, getting better sleep and reducing their bloating from the holidays. Checkout some of your checkins below!

You're feeling SO. GOOD. But you may be wondering... what do you do once the Detox ends?!🧐

How you end your Detox and transition back into your normal routine will entirely depend on what your goals are. Today, I'm sharing 4 things to keep in mind and implement when moving on past day 7.

1. Don't Immediately Reach For Sugar/Processed Foods

It's day 8 and your liver is feeling AHHHMAZING. It's just cleaned house of the toxins that were built up over the holiday season. But if the first meal you eat is a quickie pastry from your local coffee shop or a big ol' slice of pizza, then you're not going to feel so great and your liver won't be pleased. I'm not saying you can't ever have these things again - in fact, having them on the occasion can actually benefit your wellness goals - but you don't want this to be your first meal either.

Instead, ease back into your normal routine. Start with a healthier non-Detox food/drink such as a glass of wine at dinner, a little bit of honey in your nighttime tea or a piece of avocado toast. Keep the more processed foods to a very limited amount - up to one time per week maximum. This will help prevent the reversal of all the hard work and overtime that your liver just put in!

2. Maintain Many of Your Detox Promoting Strategies

Remember the 10 Detox Commandments? Most of those can go for day-to-day life too! See which of those commandments you love having in your life ~ maybe a daily sauna or bath is your new fave. Or perhaps you're digging a daily 30 minute walk. Just because the Detox is over, it doesn't mean your body won't benefit from maintaining some of those strategies! Choose which ones you love and make sense in your life and keep them in your routine.

3. Listen To Your Body

Did you incorporate a food into your meals post-detox that didn't agree with you? Did it make you feel bloated/tired/moody/unable to sleep? This is your body telling you some important info! Listen to it - now that your liver has cleared up some of the toxins, it may be easier to hear what your body is trying to say.

4. Hone in on Your Goals
