If you're not a fan of plain water, flavor enhancers like MiO can be quite appealing. However, if you're also following Intermittent Fasting, will MiO break your fast?
Today, we're diving into the details of MiO and Intermittent Fasting.
Does MiO Break a Fast?
MiO is a "water enhancer" that comes in a variety of different forms. There's original, energy, vitamins and sport. When looking at whether or not something breaks a fast, you need to consider if the ingredients of that food/drink will raise the storing hormone insulin. One of the main weight loss perks of Intermittent Fasting is that it naturally allows insulin to dip down. This dip in insulin allows fat burning to naturally turn on. So if an ingredient in MiO raises insulin then it will shut off fat burning and break a fast.
Each of the four varieties of MiO doesn't contain any sugar or protein, so it shouldn't raise insulin and therefore should not break a fast. However, if you're looking to avoid artificial sweeteners, MiO wouldn't be a good option, as it seems to rely fairly heavily on artificial sweeteners to flavor it up.
