Starting next week on Monday, December 6th, we’re ALL doing the 7 Day Intermittent Fasting Detox together!

After a weekend of indulgences and higher sugar/refined carbohydrate foods, I think all of our livers could use a little TLC. Time to reboot, re-energize and start feeling GOOD again.

So to kick off Detox Week, today I’m sharing a brand new Detox Smoothie that you can use throughout the 7 Day Detox.

What makes this a “Detox Smoothie”?

This smoothie uses multiple key ingredients to help the liver process toxins.

Recipe Highlights

  • Detox ingredients: Turmeric, ginger and chia seeds.
  • High fiber: 12 grams per serving.
  • High protein: 36 grams per serving.
  • Creamy and delicious: A breakfast you’ll love.

Key Ingredients

Turmeric

Turmeric aids in phase 2 liver detoxification.(1) This is when the liver neutralizes damaging free radicals created while processing toxins. Without this crucial step, the body would be overloaded with cell damaging free radicals. But the key component of turmeric, called curcumin, can be a bit difficult to absorb and reap the benefits. This is why the next detox ingredient is added in…

Ginger

Ginger helps the body better absorb turmeric so that you can get all of those phase 2 detox perks.

Chia Seeds

These little seeds are loaded with fiber, which is essential for phase 3 detox ~ removing the processed toxins from your body.

Equipment Needed

  • Blender

Ingredient Swaps

  • Coconut milk: Use unsweetened almond milk, hemp seed milk, cashew milk, macadamia nut milk or whole milk.
  • Banana: Make this lower carb by subbing in 1/2 cup frozen cauliflower rice. You won’t even taste it!

Storing and Meal Prep

Blend this the night before and store in a sealed glass container in the fridge. When you’re ready to drink it, just give the smoothie a quick shake!

Your body naturally detoxes on it’s own, but these ingredients have been found in research to help support our detox pathways. I love loading up on turmeric, ginger and chia seeds (as well as other Detox Foods) after vacation or the holidays.
