I love understanding how and why something works. This is called understanding the mechanism. For example, you may have heard that increasing your fiber intake can help with weight loss.* This is true, but that statement doesn't tell you why it's true. The why is even more important than the statement itself. In order to implement changes that will make a difference in your life, you have to understand the why so that you will stick with the changes. That's why when I work with my clients, I really focus on education, not just saying what you should or shouldn't eat. The education is what will make you understand the importance of the changes and then stick with them for the rest of your life! And ultimately, that's my goal- to help you achieve lifelong health and longevity. So once a month, I hold free workshops to educate my clients and my community on a topic of interest. I break down the why.

If you were wondering why fiber helps with weight loss, it's due to a variety of mechanisms, one of them being that it stretches your stomach which triggers the reduction in the hunger hormone ghrelin. Fiber also feeds healthy gut bacteria which have been found to increase weight loss, as well as a number of other health benefits!
